BURLINGTON -- Edna O. HICKS, 89, of St. Francis Care Center in Burlington died at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 26, 1991, at Burlington Medical Center (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).
She was born Sept. 5, 1901, near Washington to Estes and Vanna GINKINS ORRIS. She married Rudy HICKS in 1935.
She grew up in the Washington and Fairfield communities and attended Hedrick High School. She received her nurses training at Ottumwa and was a registered nurse and worked at Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Ottumwa United Methodist Church and several nurses' associations.
She is survived by a brother, Ted ORRIS of Burlignton and a sister, Cleo BARTON of Keosauqua.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a sister, Iris DALLDORF.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, the Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.
Open visitation will begin after noon today at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The family will be at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. Thursday until beginning of service.
A nursing scholarshop has been established and may be left at the funeral home.
