William HERMAN Rites Wednesday

William E. HERMAN, 86, former Fairfield city councilman, died Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at the Millspaugh Nursing home in Mt. Pleasant where he had been a patient since last Oct. 1.

HERMAN had been in ill health for nine years. He formerly resided at 400 E. Kirkwood street.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home with the Rev. O. Gordon Asher officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

HERMAN was born Aug. 23, 1873 at Burlington, the son of George and Molly HERMAN. He was reared and educated in Burlington. He was married to Velda R. QUILLEN May 18, 1907 in Fairfield. She preceded him in death March 14, 1951.

HERMAN served on the city council for six years. He was a member of the Methodist church, the IOOF lodge and Rebekah Lodge No. 386.

He is survived by one foster daughter, Mrs. J. Raymond JOHNSON, Gowanda, N. Y. Also surviving are a brother, Henry HERMAN, Ottumwa, and a sister, Mrs. Allen THOMPSON, Ottumwa. Two sisters are deceased.

IOOF Lodge Will Meet For Services

Members of Jefferson Lodge No. 4, IOOF, will meet at the hall Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. to attend funeral services for William E. HERMAN.

HERMAN, a former Fairfield city councilman, died Sunday. Members of the IOOF lodge will conduct services for HERMAN at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home.
