Highway patrol updates accident information

The Iowa Highway Patrol has provided the names and residences of the women involved in the fatal two-car accident Friday evening on Pleasant Plain Road.

Jordan Dane Smith, age 17, of Fairfield died and Teri Clark, age 43, of Eldon and her passenger, Linda Carr, age 63, of Batavia were injured. Previously, an address was not given for Clark and her passenger was not identified.

According to the Iowa Highway Patrol, at 4:46 p.m. Friday, Smith was driving his 2000 Chevy Cavalier north on Pleasant Plain Road, when he lost control at a curve, went onto the east shoulder, over-corrected and crossed the center line where it was struck broadside by Clark's southbound 2004 Chevy Malibu. Both cars came to rest in the west ditch.
