November 02, 2005Dorothy Mae Hughes, 80, of Toddville, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Family visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Sigourney. An online guest book for Mrs. Hughes can be signed at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
Mrs. Hughes was born July 11, 1925, in Olivet, Kan., the daughter of Milton and Helen Ruby Keck. She married Eugene Dewitt Hughes May 6, 1945, in Ottumwa. He died July 17, 1992.
Mrs. Hughes was a graduate of Packwood High School. She worked in packaging at Quaker Oats for 27 years.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include seven children, Philip Hughes of Palo, David Hughes and wife Paulette of Cedar Rapids, Michael Hughes of Toddville, Carolyn Atwood of Cedar Rapids, Steven Hughes and wife Janet of Arlington, Texas, Gregory Hughes of Cedar Rapids, and Linda Gustoff and husband David of Bertram; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Keck of Fairfield, and Milton Keck of California; and a sister, Leota Willey of Mount Pleasant.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
