November 01, 2005Lillian H. Boothby, 81, resident of Parkview Care Center, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, in the care center.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Church in Walpole, Mass. Burial will be in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Mrs. Boothby was a longtime resident of Walpole, graduating from Walpole High School in 1941 and from the University of New Hampshire with honors in 1944. She worked as a teacher in Sharon, Mass., for 21 years before retiring in 1985. She moved to Fairfield to live near her son, Samuel Boothby, in December 2003, three years after her husband died. While in Fairfield, she resided at Sunnybrook Assisted Living for 16 months and then at Parkview.
Mrs. Boothby was active in the United Church in Walpole, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Boothby of Fairfield and Charles Boothby of Waldoboro, Maine; one daughter, Margaret Elmer of Cabot, Vt.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Fayette Bassey of Tucson, Ariz.
Mrs. Boothby was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Boothby.
