October 24, 2005Carl W. Jarvis, 89, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Halcyon House following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service was held at Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with Rev. Dennis Fox officiating. Private family interment took place at the Sandy Hook Cemetery in rural Washington.

Mr. Jarvis was born June 21, 1916, in Fort Madison, the son of John W. and Kathryn Morton Jarvis. He married Vera Amelia Stout Oct. 8, 1939, at their farm northeast of Brighton.
He attended school in Denmark, Iowa graduating from Denmark High School. The farm where they were married was also where they raised their four sons before retiring to Halcyon House in 1999. He farmed all of his life in the Brighton area.
Survived by his wife of Washington; three sons, Jon Jarvis of Murphy, N.C., Taylor Jarvis of Hayward, Calif., and Lane Jarvis of Pleasantville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Noel Jarvis in 1988; and one brother, Harold Jarvis.
