WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Jerry Calvin HELFENSTINE, 53, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Fairfield, died Tuesday at his home.
He was born May 23, 1933, in Fairfield, the son of William B. and Edith J. LITTON HELFENSTINE. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and American Institute of Business at Des Moines. On Nov. 25, 1955, he married Sue SAMUELSON in Fairfield.
HELFENSTINE was administrator of the Presbyterian Manor retirement home at Wichita Falls for the last 10 years. Prior to taking that position, he was administrator of Calvin Manor retirement home in Des Moines.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Wichita Falls and taught the Adelphia Sunday school class there, and was on the board of directors of the Texas Association of Homes for the Aging, Faith Mission and the YWCA. He also was president of Volunteer Services Council at Wichita Falls State Hospital and a member of Kiwanis International.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cynthia BLAND of Fairfield; a son, Samuel M. of Austin, Texas; a brother, Jack L. of Spirit Lake; and four grandsons.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church at Wichita Falls. Graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield will be Saturday. The Rev. Robert Gates will officiate.
Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside services for Jerry C. HELFENSTINE, of Wichita Falls, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield with the Revs. Robert Gates and Carl Riggs officiating. The casket is to be closed.
