DIED.

HASTINGS.--Robert A. HASTINGS, late of Hillsboro, Ills., died at Fort Worth, Texas, Feb. 16, 1877, in the 46th year of his age.

Deceased was a native of Washington Co., Pa. He came to Fairfield, Iowa, in 1855, and in 1857 became a member of the Christian Church, of which he has at all times been a faithful member, admired and honored by all who knew him, for his zeal, knowledge, energy and devotion. He was an architect and builder, and was engaged in his profession far from home when taken sick. His wife's delicate health would not admit of her going to his assistance; his sister, Mrs. G. W. HILL, of Iowa City, went to his dying bed, where she found him yet conscious and willing to die--surrounded by many new friends-, who both administered to his wants and testified to his integrity as a christian. Mrs. HILL brought the remains to this city for burial, where she was met by his beloved wife and many relatives and friends, who attended the funeral on the 20th inst., from the residence of Mr. Joseph P. Roberds.

The friends desire to express, in this connection, their grateful thanks to Messrs. Smith, Graves and Daugherty, and many others of Fort Worth, Texas, for their kind attention and sympathy in this sad hour; also, to Mr. Roberds and family, with many friends in Fairfield, for the kind words and acts so freely tendered them.

Deceased leaves a devoted wife, an aged father and mother, with a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss; but we hope they may remember the commandments of the Lord, to do them, so as to be ready for the enjoyment of the blessings of God in heaven by and by.

S. H. Hedrix.
