Walter HARRIS Funeral Today

FAIRFIELD. -- Funeral services for Walter HARRIS, 76, a resident of Fairfield for almost 63 years were held at 10 a.m. today at the Hoskins funeral home conducted by Dr. L. L. Weis of the First Methodist church of which he had long been a member. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Death occurred early Saturday morning at the Jefferson county hospital after a few hours illness.

HARRIS was sheriff of Jefferson county for four years and headed the Fairfield police force for some time. He and his brother, Wayne, operated a blacksmith shop in the early 1900's and following his service as an officer of the law he operated a meat market for several years.

FAIRFIELD.--Mr. and Mrs. A. W. PETERSON of Oak Park, Ill., arrived Saturday and Mr. and Mrs. Glen HARRIS and sons of Rockford, Ill., came Sunday, called here by the death and burial of Walter HARRIS.
