Page 3, Column 9DEATH OF ANNIE HARRIS.
Died, in Fairfield, Iowa, Aug. 24, of bilious fever, Annie HARRIS, aged 7 years (sic), 11 months and 7 days. A devout communicant of the Episcopal church; modest, dutiful and faithful in every relation of life. They only truly mourn the dead who endeavor so to live as to insure a reunion in heaven.
"How short the race our friend has run,
Cut down in all her bloom;
The course but yesterday begun,
Now finished in the tomb.Thou joyous youth, hence learn how soon
Thy years may end their flight;
Long, long before life's brillians noon
May come death's gloomy night.To serve thy God no longer wait,
Today His voice regard,
Tomorrow mercy's open gate
May be forever barred."H.
