Nova HARPER Rites Monday

Funeral services for Nova E. HARPER will be held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of Rev. D. O. VanDyne. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

He passed away at 2:05 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson county hospital following an illness of 7½ months. He was born Oct. 6, 1889 at Milan, Mo., and lived in this community for over 60 years. He worked for the CB&Q railroad for 20 years. He was the son of James and Alice HINES HARPER.

He was married in 1910 to Lila HAVNER who passed away in 1924 and then was married in 1931 to Ethel HINES who preceded him in death in 1950.

Surviving are the following children: Lawrence, James, Mrs. Mildred HITCHCOCK, Hubert, Nova Jr., Lester, Mrs. Jane COWGER and Mrs. Velma ROUSH, all of Davenport; Mrs. Janet GILLAND and Mrs. Helen RAINBOLT of Fort Madison; Mrs. Janice NELSON of Burlington, Wetsal HARPER in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam; and Mrs. Bessie ANGSTEAD and Mrs. Judy MELLOTT of Fairfield. Also 17 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; three brothers, Henry and Charles HARPER of Fairfield and John HARPER of Davenport and one sister, Mrs. Jennie LATHRUP (sic - LATHROP) of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
