Walter J. HANKS, 89, 604 E. Adams, died Tuesday at 7:45 p.m., at Jefferson County Hospital. He had been ill the past week.
The service will be Friday at 11 a.m., at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The son of Theodore and Mary MOON HANKS, he was born Nov. 15, 1888 at Sherrion, Pa.
On Dec. 18, 1913, he was married to Grace RIDER. She died Sept. 4, 1973. He lived in Jefferson County for over 60 years. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two daughters, Grace MULLIKIN and Doris TURNER, both of Fairfield; eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary MILLS, Houston, Texas, and Bertha HAYMAN, Springdale, Ark. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one son.
