JOHN HANEY DIED LAST NIGHT AT 9

Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon At 2:30 O'clock From the Home

John HANEY passed away last night at 9 oclock after an illness of 15 months at his home South Seventh street. Death being caused from heart trouble.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the home in charge of Rev. L. Mendenhall. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.

He is survived by his wife and the following children Carrol HANEY of this city, Mrs. Carrie VORHIES of Lockridge and Mrs. Nellie FICKLE (sic - FICKEL) of Colorado Springs.

State of Iowa, Jefferson County, ss.

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of J. W. HANEY, Deceased, is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson county, and that Saturday, October 1, A. D. 1927 at 9 oclock a.m., it being in Vacation of said court, has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 6th day of September, 1927.

JOHN WESLEY HANEY

John Wesley HANEY, son of Thomas and Elizabeth HANEY, was born November 23, 1857 in Van Buren county, where he grew to manhood. He was converted early in life, and later united with the Free Methodist church. He was a local preacher for a number of years; and at one time served as a supply on one of the circuits in the Iowa conference. His death occurred at his home in Fairfield September 2, 1927. Disease of the heart cause his illness which had lasted for fifteen months.

On May 28, 1885 he ws united in marriage to Laura E. WOODSIDE of Jefferson county. To this union was born five children, two dying in early childhood, Clarence E. and an infant daughter. He had a son by a former wife, Paul R., who died about twenty years ago.

His wife and the following children are left to mourn his loss: Mrs. John H. FICKEL, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mrs. Elbert R. VORHIES of Lockridge, and- Carroll of Fairfield, also eleven grandchildren and the following brothers: William of Keosauqua, George of Selma, and Leroy of Warden British Columbia, Canada.

John HANEY was a kind loving husband and father; and faithful in his christian and church duties. His passing away marks the end of a pioneer Free Methodist who labored in the early day of the church.

The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock on South 7th street in charge of Rev. L. Kendenhall assisted by Rev. R. T. Fine.

Mrs. Earl Burrows, and Minnie Larsons sang "Rock of Ages," "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "In the Garden," the last being a favorite of the deceased, which was sung by his grand daughters the day before he died.

The pall bearers were L. Standford, L. Noble, A. R. FICKEL, W. J. FICKEL, F. Pech and C. H. Scarff. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Just Among Ourselves

... --Mrs. John FICKEL returned Saturday night to her home at Colorado Springs, Colo., after being called here by the death of her father John W. HANEY. Mr. (sic) FICKEL's father Samuel FICKEL, returned home with her for an extended visit.
