... DAUGHTERS OF UNION VETERANS HOLD MEETING

... The charter was draped in the honor of Mrs. Nettie HAMMOND, who passed away last Friday, and the following tribute was read:

"The Sad Reaper has again entered our Tent and taken from us one of our beloved members, Sister Nettie HAMMOND. In loving remembrance of our departed Sister, we pay to her his tribute--

"As the evening shadows closed about her,
She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
And while the hearts of her dear ones are grieving,
She has crossed the river deep.
Weep not that her toils are over;
Weep not that her race is run;
God grant that we may rest as sweetly,
When our work, like her's (sic), is done.'" ...
