Wallace J. HACKETT

Lt. Col. Wallace J. HACKETT, U.S. Army, retired, 78, 910 S. Main Place, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1992, at South Padre Island, Texas.

The service is tentatively scheduled for Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

HACKETT was born April 25, 1914, at Moyer, Okla., the son of Samuel Bradbury and Cora Lee GWOODGION HACKETT. A 1940 graduate of West Point Military Academy, he served in the U.S. Army from 1940 until retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1961. He studied at the University of Oklahoma and received a master's degree from the University of Illinois. He served as an instructor and associate professor at Parsons College from 1971 until 1972 and was magistrate for Jefferson County from 1973 until June 30, 1979. During his military career, he received the Silver Star for bravery, the third highest military honor awarded; the Bronze Star with V, for valor; and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. On July 14, 1942, in Scarsdale, N.Y., he married Juliana VAN VLIET, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Van of Ridgewood, N.J., Steve of Boynton Beach, Fla., a daughter, Patricia AUBIN of Cambridge, Mass.; three grandchildren; a brother, Perry of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Helen HACKETT of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary MITCHELL of Claremont, Calif. Two sisters, Virginia HACKETT-RICE and Catherine HACKETT, preceded him in death.

Wallace J. HACKETT

The service for Lt. Col. Wallace J. HACKETT, U.S. Army retired, 910 S. Main Place, who died Monday, Oct. 26, 1992, at South Padre Island, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Wallarab officiating.

Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is open at the funeral home, where memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left.
