CHARLES GROVE

Charles GROVE was born in Falkoping, Westengotland, Sweden, December 7, 1863. He came to Jefferson county, Iowa together with his parents in 1870 where his entire life has been spent.

After having been regularly instructed and prepared he was confirmed in the Christian faith as confessed by the Evangelical Lutheran church, at New Sweden at the age of 16 years. For many years he was a member of the Upland Lutheran church but recently became a member of the First Lutheran church of Fairfield.

Mr. GROVE had been in failing health for a number of years and finally about three weeks before his death submitted to an operation in the hope that some remedy might be applied to bring about his recovery. However there was no human help sufficient to remove his malady and restore him to health again. He passed out of this life Wednesday April 22 from the Jefferson County hospital, aged 61 years, 4 months and 15 days.

Both parents and one sister, Mrs. J. E. TROMMER, have preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sisters and six brothers: Mrs. Hanna DAVIS, Colorado Springs, Colo.;; Miss Anna of this county; Mrs. L. E. BRESLEY, Colome, S. Dakota; William of Stockport; Axel, Dr. E. G., Elmer, Ray and Joe of this county.

Mr. GROVE was a quiet, kindly man; an excellent neighbor and true friend, highly respected by all who knew him. At the time of the death of his sister, he together with his sister Anna and brother Joe provided a home for several of his sister's children.
