H. J. GRIFFITHS Taken In Death

Death came this morning to Hezekiah J. GRIFFITHS, former Fairfield businessman and well known resident. He passed away about 7 a.m. at his home, 302 E. Adams street, after being in failing health for some time.

The body was taken to the Weston Behner funeral home where last rites are pending.

Hezekiah J. GRIFFITHS, 71, was born August 7, 1885. He was united in marriage to Alta May WALKER who passed away June 2, 1948. On March 24, 1953, he was married to Gladys E. ARCHER who survives. The wedding took place at Pleasant Grove, Iowa.

GRIFFITHS owned and operated a tin shop in Fairfield for many years and sold and repaired furnaces. He also took an active part in many lodges and organizations.

He was a member of the First Methodist church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows No. 4, Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge 386, Iowa Encampment No. 6, and the Biglow Canton No. 6 at Ottumwa.

Mr. GRIFFITHS is survived by the following children: Leotta GRIFFITHS, Des Moines; Clement GRIFFITHS, Indianola; Mrs. Marion CREATH, Pinehurst, N. C.; and Mrs. Doris LIGHT, Mt. Pleasant.

He is also survived by six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marguerite McCALL, Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Lem GRIFFITHS, Jefferson, Iowa; and Harold GRIFFITHS, Syracuse, N. Y.
