Donald J. GREINER, 62, of 1573 Pleasant Plain Road, died at 8:12 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Open visitation will begin at 7:30 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be given to Jefferson County cancer loan closet, Jefferson County Hospice or St. Mary's church.
Mr. GREINER was born July 23, 1936, the son of Charles F. and Clara K. HAMMES GREINER. He attended school at West Chester and graduated in 1954. He had farmed his entire life, first at the home place in Washington, Iowa, then moved to Mount Pleasant in 1962 and to the Perlee area of Fairfield in January 1969.
He married Virginia Gertrude SMITH Nov. 21, 1959, at Monmouth, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, Mark GREINER of Fairfield, Jeff GREINER of Mount Pleasant and Chris GREINER of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Cindy BUNKER of Cedar Rapids and Sally VAAL of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; four brothers, Carl, Howard, Harold and Wilford, all of Washington; and four sisters, Dolores GREINER of Rockford, Ill., Harriet ADAM of Fairfield, Marietta GREINER of Milwaukee, Wis., and Florence SOBASKI of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Phillip Anthony GREINER in 1987; and two brothers, Sylvester and Charles GREINER.
