OBITUARY

John William GREENFIELD.

John William GREENFIELD was born April 19, 1909, and passed to rest at Jefferson County hospital Monday evening the 24th aged twenty years. John's birthplace was near Fairfield, at the age of five he with the family, moved to the GREENFIELD farm west of Birmingham. He attended the grade school in the country at Crum school. He attended high school in Birmingham, graduating with the class of '28. Among his young associates John has ever been loved and respected. From today the noble Christian life lived by this dear youth will live on in the lives of those with whom he worked or played.

John was baptized June 19, 1926, and united with the Seventh Day Adventist church at Birmingham. His life has given every impression that he loved his Master, each day finding him following in the footsteps of Him who said "Follow me."

In the home as well as in the church our brother was loyal and obedient. In his heart were written "honor thy father and mother." Well do I remember upon visiting the home, the willingness and the respect with which he responded to the wishes of the folks at home.

There are to mourn his loss, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles GREENFIELD, two brothers, Lloyd and Joe, one sister, Helen, four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. GREENFIELD, Mr. and Mrs. John RUDOLPH, besides three uncles, three aunts, and a host of relatives and friends.

From us is taken a dear son, a loving brother and a faithful friend -- but we sorrow not as they who have no hope. John has fallen asleep in Jesus, and will come forth at the call of the Life-giver on the morn of the great resurrection.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 in the Presbyterian church at Birmingham in charge of Rev. H. C. Irvine of the Birmingham Presbyterian church. Interment in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield.
