Alfred GREEN was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, June 1st, 1826, and died at his home northeast of this city about five miles, April 24th, 1901, about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. He came with his parents to this county in 1844 when a young man 18 years of age; was married and began housekeeping fifty years ago on the farm where died and where, he resided continuously until about 12 years ago, when he came into this city, having, through the loss of his eye sight, become unable to work on the farm. About the first of March this year they went back to the farm to live with a son. Deceased had been a member of the M. E. church since early boyhood, and was ready to go to his reward. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn their loss. The funeral services will occur from the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon, after which the remains will be brought here for interment.

Alfred GREEN, the youngest member of a family which came to Jefferson county in 1844 and has been connected with its best interests in all the intervening years, died at the home of a soninlaw, W. H. STONER, north of this city Wednesday. Mr. GREEN had been blind for many years, but had been in fairly good health until a few months ago. He was born in Bedford county, Penn., June 1st, 1826, and when about eighteen years of age removed to this county with his parents. He was married here, about 1846, to Elizabeth CHARLTON, who survives him. They were the parents of six children, five of whom survive them--Graham, who lives in Wyoming; Allen at Mankato, Kan.; Mrs. Charles MOYER of New York, Neb.; and Wayne GREEN and Mrs. W. H. STONER of this county. Three brothers survive Mr. GREEN in this county, Nelson, Dr. J. W. and Sylvester GREEN, all of whom are older than he was. Mr. GREEN had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since early manhood. He was a man of excellent moral character and the utmost integrity, a good citizen and a useful member of society. His death will be mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends throughout the county. The remains were interred in the City cemetery (sic - Evergreen Cemetery) Friday, Rev. I. O. Kemble conducting the funeral services.
