Page 5, Column 3STROKE FATAL TO MRS. GREEF
Death came early this morning to a prominent Fairfield woman who had been active in local music circles for the past several years.
She is Mrs. Arthur GREEF who passed away at her home, 309 E. Broadway after an extended illness. She had been a patient in the Jefferson county hospital but was returned to her home about a week ago. Her death was caused by a series of strokes.
Last rites will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian church with Dr. C. R. Douglass in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Helen L. GREEF, 61, was born May 4, 1889, in Fairfield, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Verner WHITE. She spent her entire life in this community, attended the public schools, graduated from the Fairfield high school in 1906, and graduated from Parsons college in 1910.
She was united in marriage to Arthur GREEF, who survives. The wedding took place in Fairfield.
Mrs. GREEF was a member of the Presbyterian church, Chapter C of P.E.O., and the Thursday club. She took an active part in the church, especially the music department, as well as music festivities in the community until her health began to fail.
Mrs. GREEF is survived by her husband and two daughter: (sic) Mrs. Harriett CHRISTENSEN of Wilmette, Illinois; and Mrs. Eleanor ORTH, Des Moines. Both daughters, accompanied by their children, arrived home during the weekend before their mother's death.
Other survivors include three grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs. Frank PIERSON, Fairfield and Mrs. Paul STOLTZ, Ottumwa; and a great aunt, Anna WHITE, Fairfield.
Mrs. GREEF was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur GREEF, who died at home after an extended illness, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in charge of Dr. C. R. Douglass. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The body is at the Monger funeral home where it will remain until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. At that time it will be taken to the church.
