MRS. HARLAN GOSSICK DEAD

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. FISHER of this City Passed Away at Claude, Uexas (sic), Last Night.

A telegram was received in the city this morning announcing the death of Mrs. Harlan GOSSICK which occurred last night at 8:30 o'clock at her home in Claude, Texas, and follows closely the death of the infant which was born Sunday.

Relatives and friends here had been advised of the death of the little one and it was understood that the mother was getting along nicely until last night when a telegram arrived saying that Mrs. GOSSICK had taken an alarming turn and that her death might be expected. Her death last night was announced by a second telegram reaching here this morning.

Mrs. GOSSICK was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. FISHER of this city. She was a graduate of the city High school with the class of 1902 and later took a course in stenography in which she showed marked ability.

November 13, 1906 she was united in marriage to Harlan GOSSICK of this city and the young people went to Texas to make their home. Both were exceedingly popular and numbered their friends here by the hundreds. The sympathy of the entire city will go out to the heart broken young husband and parents and sisters and brother in their sad bereavement.

The funeral party will arrive in this city probably some time Friday when the funeral arrangements will be made known.

Mrs. FISHER was at the bedside of her daughter when she passed away. Mr. FISHER left Monday night for Texas immediately upon receipt of the news that the baby had passed away. He reached the little Texas home this afternoon and was not aware until he arrived of the death of his daughter.

FUNERAL HELD TO-DAY.

Remains of Mrs. Harlan GOSSICK Were Laid to Rest This Afternoon in Evergreen Cemetery.

From the home where one short year ago she became a happy bride, all that was mortal of Mrs Harlan GOSSICK, whose death occurred last Tuesday evening in her Texas home, was tenderly carried this afternoon and land to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

The funeral party arrived in the city yesterday afternoon at 5:40 o'clock from Texas and the last services were held at the parental FISHER home at two o'clock this afternoon. Rev. W. H. Betts, pastor of the Christian church of which Mrs. GOSSICK was a member, was assisted by Rev. Thomas Osborn of the Methodist Episcopal church during the last services which were brief.

Six young men, three of whom were schoolmates and graduated in the same class with Mrs. GOSSICK, carried the remains to their last resting place. They were: Messrs. Leslie Harper, Ernest Peasley, Frank Simpson, John FISHER, Dick Kerrick and Bert Stanwood.

Twenty-six years ago today a baby girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter FISHER, who then lived just east of the city. The little one was their first born and was named Grace.

Years went by and other children entered the family circle. Each one loved their older sister with a tender affection seldom manifested in the homes today.

In June, 1902 when Grace graduated from the city High school her future life looked unusually bright and happy. Among her friends and schoolmates she was a general favorite.

On November 13, 1906 she became the bride of Harlan GOSSICK, one of the most highly esteemed young men of Jefferson county. Last January the young people went to Texas to make their home and were prospering when the Death Angel knocked at the door of the little home and called first the babe and then the mother. The sympathies of the entire city are with the sorrowing relatives today.

Mrs. GOSSICK is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. FISHER, and five sisters, Mae, Edith, Mary, Irma and Lena, and one brother, Ray.
