The service for Merrill R. "Barney" GORMAN, 83, 306 Wilson Blvd., who died at 2:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 1992, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Masonic rites will be at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home, with family visitation following until 8. Visitation is open. A memorial has been established to Kilwinning Masonic Lodge 198 in Batavia.
GORMAN was born May 29, 1909, in Libertyville, the son of Charles R. and Mary Jane ABRAM GORMAN. He graduated from Batavia High School in 1927 and was a salesman for Standard Oil for 25 years and for Purina Feed Co. in Fairfield for 25 years. He married Pauline M. HICKS on Nov. 23, 1935, in Missouri. He was a life member of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge 198, Eagles Lodge (sic - Club/Aerie) 1927 and Fairfield Elks Lodge 1192.
Surviving are his wife; a sister, Dorothy PAGE of Ventura, Calif.; a brother, Charles of Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. A brother, Richard, preceded him in death.
