Page 2, Column 3JACOB GOEHMER (sic) DEAD
Jacob GOEHNER one of the oldest and most highly esteemed residents of this city passed away Saturday night about 11 o'clock after a short illness. He had been in failing health for some time past and his death was not unexpected.
Mr. GOEHNER was born June 1, 1821 in Hamburg, Germany and came with his parents to New York while yet a child.
In early young manhood Mr. GOEHNER wooed and won the woman of his chice (sic) and they traveled life's thorny pathway together until the 13 day of January, 1907, when Mrs. GOEHNER was called to her reward.
In the early part of their married life Mr. and Mrs. GOEHNER moved westward and settled in Mt. Pleasant where they made their home for several years at the end of which time they came to this city. Three children were born to them, one girl and two goys. The daughter and one son has preceded Mr. GOEHNER in in death (sic).
He is survived by one son John GOEHNER of this city and two grand sons.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock at the Lutheran church.

Jacob GOHNER (sic), an aged and highly respected citizen, is no more in the body. Funeral services over his remains were held Tuesday at two p.m. from the English Lutheran church, Rev. Luther Bright, pastor of the church officiating. The deceased was born in Rothenburg, Kingdom of Wurtemburg, Germany, June 1, 1821. He came to America March 10, 1853. He was united in marriage to Saloma GLEISLEY in October 1854. Three children, two sons and a daughter, were born to them, one son departing his life October 6, 1902 and the daughter passing to the Great Beyond in infancy. The other son, John, still survives.
Mr. GOEHNER departed this life at his home in thie city May 16, 1908, aged 86 years, 11 months, 15 days(.) His wife, Salome, preceded him to the spirit world on the 13th day of January 1907.
It was the request of Mr. GOEHNER that his remains be taken into the church of the Lutheran faith as he had been born and reared a member of the church bearing that name. For some years he had been unable to attend divine services in the house of God but at no time did his faith in his Maker wane in the least and when God called him to the Great Beyond, he gladly answered the summons with a faith that did not shrink.
Rev. Bright spoke from the words found in Revelation in the twentyfirst chapter, the fourth verse: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away."
Interrment (sic) was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Jacob GOEHNER, an aged and respected resident of this city for many years, died at his home Sunday night. Funeral services were held at the English Lutheran church yesterday afternoon and conducted by Rev. W. Luther Bright. The body was interred with Masonic honors. Mr. GOEHNER was born in Rothenburg, Wurtemburg, Germany, June 1st, 1821, and landed in America March 10th. 1858. May 15th, 1857, he married Salome KLEISLE, who died here January 13th, 1907. They were the parents of three children, only one of whom is now living, John GOEHNER of this city. The family came to this city in 1867 and its members have resided here continuously since that time. Mr. GOEHNER was a man of thrift, of industry, and his standards of honesty and morality were the highest. While he retained in a great degree his love for the Fatherland, he never forgot his duty to his adopted country and faithfully discharged every duty of citizenship.
