Stricken Down by Death.

Emma GILBERT, wife of George GIBSON, who has been seriously ill for four weeks past, died this morning at 3:30. This will be a sad announcement to a wide circle of friends in town and country who had known Mrs. GIBSON from childhood and who loved and esteemed her for her excellences of character. Deceased was born in this city, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William GILBERT. She was in the twenty-eighth year of her age. She was married to George GIBSON October 19th, 1893, and leaves one child, a babe of four weeks. Mrs. GIBSON had been a member of the First Methodist church for many years and of many of the societies connected with it. She was a bright and intelligent girl, an active worker in church and social affairs, and she had formed many warm friendships. A wide measure of sympathy will be extended the stricken family, and many hearts will mourn with theirs the loss of the young wife and mother. No arrangements have yet been made for the funeral.

Death of Mrs. George GIBSON.

The many friends of Mrs. Emma GIBSON, wife of George GIBSON, will regret to learn of her death at her home in this city this morning at three o'clock. Four weeks ago last Saturday she gave birth to a child and since that time gradually became weaker until death.

Emma GILBERT was the youngest daughter of William and Elmvra GILBERT, and was born in this city October 22, 1868. Here she grew to womanhood and formed a large circle of warm friends. She was united in marriage to George GIBSON in November, 1893, and continued to reside in this city.

Mrs. GIBSON was a young woman who made friends of all those whom she met. She was kind hearted, and especially was she interested in missionary work, always availing herself of every opportunity to lend a helping hand. She was the favorite of the family and her death is a severe blow to them. Mrs. GIBSON was an earnest christian, taking great pleasure in church work, being a faithful member of the Methodist church. Deceased was twenty-seven years old. The time of the funeral has not yet been fixed.

LITTLE LOCALS.

... The funeral of Mrs. George GIBSON was held at the Methodist church last Friday afternoon at two o'clock. The sermon was preached by Rev. D. C. Smith, of Albia, at the request of the deceased. He was assisted by the pastor, Rev. J. A. Boatman. The funeral was largely attended, the church being full.
