BILLY BERYLE CATCOTT
Batavia

Our beloved Billy Beryle CATCOTT passed away peacefuly in his home in the early morning of Wednesday, September 20, 2023. He was a man who knew no stranger, and all who met him would agree he had a gift for gab. He loved to talk to anyone and everyone, and was known for his kind and generous nature. Bill was the type of man who would stop his daily walk to help anyone with a problem, help and advise them on a project (whether they asked or not) and loved to talk about his thoughts on the world, religion, politics and any other number of subjects--he simply loved people.

Bill was born on September 13, 1929, in Rose Hill, Iowa, to Raymond and Iva Marie CATCOTT. He had 2 sisters, Nancy CUNNINGHAM and Virginia ROQUET, both of whom have passed.

Bill graduated from Hedrick High School in 1947, and married his wife, Alma SUTTON, on June 4, 1949.

Bill was a farmer by profession and had his first farm outside of Eldon, Iowa and his second farm near Batavia, Iowa. He was known as "the farmer" but as anyone who is familiar with farming in that era knows, it was a team effort with his beloved wife Alma, age 91. Alma is originally from Packwood, Iowa. She was the love of Bill's life. They were married on June 4, 1949 and had a lifelong union of 74 years. If ever there were a "right hand" it was absolutely Alma. Bill and Alma made a happy home for their 2 children, Jack & Karen. They instilled the values of hard work, their love of God and the importance of family in their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Alma, children, Jack CATCOTT and his wife, JoAnn CATCOTT, and daughter, Karen ARMSTRONG. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Danika YOKUBAITIS, Kara ARMSTRONG, Jenna CATCOTT (Brennen THOMSON), Jessica and James CATCOTT.

Bill and Alma's great grandchildren are Lukka THOMSON, age 7, Aela THOMSON, age 5, and Leonardo CATCOTT, age 3. Bill and Alma loved their entire family, but there was certainly a soft spot for their great grandchildren who adored them and would play for hours at their home bringing love and laughter with every visit.

Bill's great granddaughters showed their love for him at the end of his life by making cards showing them holding hands with Bill and making a special request for him to take care of their cherished dog in heaven until they "can get up there" to care for him themselves. They knew there was no one better to trust with the care of their dearest Henver than their most special and beloved Great Grandpa.

Bill left his legacy and impact on many; we will deeply miss him and know that he will live on forever in our hearts.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.forevermissed.com/billy-beryle-catcott.
