Last Rites Sunday Afternoon For Mrs. J. E. GIBSON

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. J. E. GIBSON, 51, who passed away last evening at 9 p.m. at her home in Davenport. She had been in ill health for some time and confined to the hospital for the past seven weeks.

Services will be held in Davenport Saturday afternoon after which the body will be shipped to Fairfield for services Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral Home. Dr. William Yingling will be in charge. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. GIBSON was a former local resident, the family having been in the ice cream business on East Adams Street before moving to Davenport some 12 years ago.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters Mrs. Paul COREY, Davenport, Mrs. Jack BROWN, Los Angeles; a son Walter E. GIBSON, troop commander at Camp Young, Calif.; her mother Mrs. Etta MILLER, Delta, Ia; one brother Arthur MILLER, Des Moines, one sister Mrs. Ella BEEMAN, California. One brother Frank MILLER passed away recently in Chicago. Mrs. Sam GILBERT and Mrs. Eleanor KENDALL of Fairfield are sisters-in-law.

... --Among the relatives and friends, who came to Fairfield, from a distance to attend the funeral services on Sunday for Mrs. J. E. GIBSON of Davenport, a former Fairfield resident, were her daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Paul COREY and Mr. COREY of Davenport, Mrs. Jack BROWN and Mr. BROWN of Los Angeles, Calif. her son, Walter GIBSON of Camp Young, Calif. her mother and brother Mrs. Etta MILLER of Delta, Ia., and Arthur MILLER of Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Baird of Ainsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lawson and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawson of Batavia. Mr. BROWN and Mr. GIBSON left to resume their army duties at their respective camps, following the services Mrs. BROWN remaining with her father, for the duration.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.052, on the same lot as her son Walter. Husband Joseph remarried, died in Davenport, IA, in 1973 and was buried there with his second wife. Ada's gravestone notes a birth year of 1890; according to Jefferson County Births, she was born May 20, 1891.
