MYRNA L. SMITH

Myrna L. SMITH, 88, of Fairfield, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Prestige Care Center, surrounded by family.

She was born August 8, 1935, in Winterset, Iowa, to Paul and Nina (DeBORD) BRITTAIN. On September 3, 1959, she married Garrett R. SMITH of Glasgow, Illinois. Gary and Myrna only dated a couple weeks before deciding to elope. That marriage lasted until Gary's death on November 24, 2001. She co-owned and operated multiple Napa Auto Part Stores with her husband for 25 years. She was a Realtor and she also owned and operated Personalized Designs in Keokuk, Iowa. She was a member of the Keokuk Yacht Club, Eagles and Elks Club. She enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, golfing, entertaining, socializing with friends and being silly. Myrna was a loving mother, devoted wife and friend to all she met.

She is survived by three children, Michelle (John BROKKEN) SMITH of Fairfield, Marcy (Randy) PECK of Lockridge, and Matthew (Melissa) SMITH of Keokuk, Iowa, along with four grandcildren, Courtney PETTIT of Brighton, Beau SMITH and Tyrel SMITH of Fairfield, and Gage SMITH of El Campo, Texas, and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; one son, Mike "Smitty" SMITH; and one brother, Jerry BRITTAIN.

A memorial gathering celebrating her life will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Cremation rites have been accorded. Myrna's family wishes for special memories to be written.
