HAROLD "SCOTT" ATWOOD
Cedar Rapids

Harold "Scott" ATWOOD, 61, passed away on August 15, 2023. He was born in Fairfield, Iowa, on July 7, 1962, the son of Harold and Shirley ATWOOD. He lived most of his life in Iowa, though life events brought him to other places like Tennessee, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Guam. Scott found solace and joy in his favorite pastimes, including fishing and in his unwavering support for his beloved Hawkeyes and Chiefs. Above all, he loved his family. Though Scott faced the formidable challenge of battling the disease of addiction throughout his life, he displayed immense strength and resilience in that fight.

Scott is survived by his mother, Shirley DICK; sister, Deb (Mark Wenman) FORBES of Cedar Rapids; brother, Mike ATWOOD of New Mexico; nieces, Chelsea (Rob) ARCHIBALD, Cassi (Pete) BORMANN, Kayla (Milo) McMINN; nephew, Evan ATWOOD; and several great-nieces & -nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harold ATWOOD; step-father, Richard DICK; grandparents; great-nephew, Caden; and his first love, Lori.

A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial's Family Center in Cedar Rapids, Monday, August 21st from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Scott's family kindly suggests making a donation to an organization who supports those battling addiction, such as Faith Discipleship Center (efcfaithdecipleshipcenter.com), C.A.Y.A. Transition Home for Men (cayatransitionhomeformen.godaddysites.com); or ASAC in Cedar Rapids.
