JACKIE GURNEY

Jackie GURNEY, 84, formally (sic) of Bluffton, South Carolina and Fairfield, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Jackie GURNEY was born on December 11, 1938, the daughter of Pedro Marques DOS SANTOS and Quiteria Leopoldina DE MELLO in Rio Largo - Alagoas, Brazil. On July 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Robert GURNEY in Evanston, Illinois. Jackie was a 1st Generation immigrant from her native country of Brazil who was proud to become an American citizen. Jackie was an amazing wife and mother, but also had an adventurous entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout her life she explored many careers and interests including being a Tupperware manager, establishing two home day cares, and running and owning a clothing store. She loved singing in her parish, swimming at her community pool, being active at church with St Vincent de Paul, and spending time with her family. She especially loved all nine of her grandchildren and celebrating their many accomplishments.

She is survived by her five children, Maria and husband Richard PETH, Robert David GURNEY, Susan and husband Eric DANIELSON, Jennifer and husband Dallas RICHARD, and Peter Alexander GURNEY and wife Heather GURNEY; nine grandchildren and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert on November 18, 2016.

Memorial Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with Father Doug Wathier presiding. The family will greet friends starting at 10:00 am with a Rosary at 10:20 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul thru their website svdpbuffton.com

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home of Waverly is assisting the GURNEY family with arrangements.
