BARBARA McCOY PITTMAN
Palmdale, CA

Born Barbara McCoy PITTMAN in Tampa, Florida, on February 19, 1933, Barbara went to be with her Savior June 18, 2023, in Palmdale, CA, with her loving husband, "Hal", by her side. An alumna of Glendale High School in CA, Barbara graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Ottumwa, IA. There she fell in love with a farm boy, Harold "Hal" MACY, and they were married February 26, 1954, in Fairfield, Iowa, where they farmed and gave birth to two sons. In 1957 they moved to Palmdale where Barbara was employed at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center for over 33 years (1957 to 1990) working as an RN and Second Shift Supervisor. She loved reading, traveling, and vacations with her family and friends and was a member of Palmdale United Methodist Church, a 57-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of Desert Rose Star.

Barbara leaves husband, "Hal" MACY and sons, Michael Brent (wife Carol) and Terry Craig (wife Sarah); 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn PITTMAN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Henry PITTMAN, Camilla SWEATT; step-father, "Luther" SWEATT, brother Larry PITTMAN; and other family members.

Services will be held July 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmdale United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, IA. Arrangements handled by Halley Olsen Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale, CA, and Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.
