JEAN DAVIS
Fairfield

Jean DAVIS, born September 3rd, 1924, passed away November 13th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Libertyville, Iowa to Earl and Verle BAKER. She graduated from Libertyville High School.

After high school Jean moved to Chicago with her high school friend and worked for the government for several years; she had an opportunity to take a position as a legal secretary in Washington DC. She jumped at the chance to pursue this new opportunity. She resided there until her mother turned ill and she moved back to the Fairfield area to help care for her.

Upon returning she met the love of her life, George DAVIS. They were married on March 11th, 1950. Together they built an amazing family, starting with her two sons Mark & Chris. They ran a family farm together and raised purebred polled Hereford cattle and other livestock. In 1966 they went into the real estate business and soon established their own family business, Davis & Palmer Real Estate. Jean was a real estate broker and saleswoman. She was a great bookkeeper and kept books for several different businesses. She enjoyed spending time reading and was an avid music lover. She grew up singing and performing with her older sister Lois. Jean was a member of the Methodist church choir for many years. Her greatest passion was her family, and she attended every event for each and every grandchild. This continued even with her great-grandchildren. She rarely, if ever, missed a performance by her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.

Jean and George loved living in the country and enjoyed watching the wildlife from her favorite chair. She could tell you every different species of bird as they landed on the feeder. She was always learning and teaching her kids and grandkids the things that she learned. She was widely known amongst family members as the Queen of Grammar. George and Jean loved to travel together and would often take off on a whim on a road trip across the country, visiting friends and family along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Verle BAKER, her husband George DAVIS, and her siblings Lois HAMMOCK and Harold BAKER.

She is survived by her two children, Mark and Kris DAVIS of Libertyville and Chris and Debbi DAVIS of Libertyville. She had 6 grandchildren- Christie (Alex) KESSEL, Terri (Aaron) KNESS, Aaron DAVIS, Chad (Tenishia) DAVIS, Evan (Dani) DAVIS, and Austin DAVIS. She was Grandma Great to 7 great-grandchildren whom she adored.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor at the Fairfield Golf & Country Club, November 19th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Memorials in her name may be made to: Little Superheroes: In care of Chris & Deb DAVIS 1844 Libertyville Road, Libertyville, IA 52567.
