DIED MONDAY AT PACKWOOD

Mrs. William GARDNER, life-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Harlan Myers home near Packwood. She had made her home the past year with her daughter, Mrs. Mildred STANLEY, who is employed at the Myers home. Mrs. GARDNER had been in failing health for six years and confined to her bed the past seven months. She was 73 years old at the time of her death.

Last rites will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Edith Mae GARDNER was born November 20, 1872, in Jefferson county, the daughter of the late John and Ida Mae NEFF. She had lived in Jefferson county all her life. She and her husband lived on a farm three miles southeast of Packwood until Mrs. GARDNER's health failed her and she went to live with her daughter who took care of her.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. STANLEY, both of Packwood, and a grandson, Harold STANLEY, Aberdeen, Maryland. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Ralph NEFF, Packwood; Floyd NEFF, Waterloo; Anson NEFF, Mrs. Frank COWGER and Mrs. Barney CARR, all of Ottumwa. One brother, Ed NEFF, passed away in 1941.

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.121. She was first married to Addison LYON, as his second wife, and he died in 1899. Edith has a partial inscription on Addison's monument, but she is buried with her second husband William.
