LONG ILLNESS ENDS IN DEATH

A well known retired farmer of Jefferson county passed away this morning at Mt. Pleasant after he had been in failing health the past year (note: in Henry Co., IA). He is Albert R. GARDNER, 91, who wa a native of Appanoose county but who spent most of his life in Van Buren and Jefferson counties.

Theh (sic) body is at the Monger funeral home where last rites are pending.

Albert R. GARDNER was born August 17, 1858, the son of the late John and Frances GARDNER. He was united in marriage on August 24, 1880, to Mary Catherine LORING, who preceded her husband in death in 1930. GARDNER had made his home with his children since that time until recently.

Born in Appanoose county, he moved to Fairfield where he made his home until 1903, then Mr. and Mrs. GARDNER moved to a farm near Stockport and lived their (sic) until Mrs. GARDNER's death.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs, Ray CHURCH, Bonaparte; Mrs. T. T. STUCKEY and Mrs. R. E. GRANT, Fairfield; Mrs. Emma TAYLOR, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Flossey TURLEY, Newton; Jessie M. GARDNER, Concordia, Kan.; Guy GARDNER, Stockport; John and Tom GARDNER, both of Chicago; Robert L. GARDNER, Mesa, Arizona; and Albert, Jr., Fairfield.

Also surviving are 39 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, George, who died in infancy.

GARDNER Rites To Be Thursday Afternoon

Last rites will be Thursday afternoon for Albert R. GARDNER, 91, well known retired farmer who passed away Monday morning.

The services will be held at the Monger funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
