RALPH "DUBS" DICKINSON
Brighton

Ralph "Dubs" DICKENSON, 94, of Brighton, Iowa, died at his farm Monday, August 29, 2022. He was born near Brighton August 13, 1928, the son of Gail James "Pappy" and Veva Ruth (KEEGAN) DICKINSON. He grew up in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School in 1947, farmed all of his life, was a member of Sts. Joseph & Cabrini Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict). Dubs was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann CHUCK on December 27, 1952, at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Dubs was the most proud of the family Kathryn and he built; their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dubs was passionate about farming and racing. Most weekends you would find him at the race track. He loved playing cards with friends and family and took pleasure in winning all of their quarters. Dubs never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anybody.

Dubs is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Brighton, Iowa; daughters: Laura KOHNERT of Urbandale, Iowa; and Kaye STEWART of Washington, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Scott KOHNERT, Katie (KOHNERT) O'DONNELL, Kelly DICKINSON, Kayla (DICKINSON) HEATH, Steve STEWART and Lisa (STEWART) HOLTS, 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jane WHITAKER (Russel) of Brighton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff DICKINSON; son-in-law, Tony STEWART; and his brother, Don DICKINSON.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. Monday September 5, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Charles J. Fladung officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 29 of Washington. Visitation will be held Sunday September 4, 2022, from 2 to 4 P.M. at the church. Memorials to St. Joseph Cemetery may be left at the church or mailed to Kaye STEWART, 619 W Main Street, Washington, IA 52353. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
