JOHN CLEMENS DIED SATURDAY
Funeral arrangements not yet completed for former Oskaloosa man

John CLEMENS, 64, Negro, passed away Saturday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock, at his home in Fairfield. Mr. CLEMENS moved to this vicinity four years ago, coming from Oskaloosa. He became seriously ill on Christmas day.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, pending word from relatives. The body is at the Hoskins funeral home.

CLEMENS Funeral Will Be Held Here Monday Morning

Services for John CLEMENS, Negro, who passed away early this week, will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock, at the Hoskins Funeral home in this city. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, in the Public Grounds Section, in Row 8, Space 30. He has no gravestone, and was not married. According to his Death Certificate, he was born August 14, 1876, and passed away at the County Home in Liberty Township, 6½ miles south of Fairfield. No place of birth or names of parents are shown - indicated as "not known". According to the 1940 Census of Liberty Township, Jefferson County, IA, he lived in Yankton, SD, in 1935.
