FairfieldBetty KRUEGER was the first of six children born into a family of farmers on February 2, 1947, in Columbus, Indiana. Betty graduated high school a National Merit Scholar and used her full scholarship at Valparaiso University. She graduated from the Honors College with a Humanities Degree.
Betty learned the T.M. technique in college and soon took an interest in teaching it herself. After her teacher training, she taught it for several years in northwest Indiana.
Betty married Fred KRUEGER in 1979 and moved to Fairfield soon after, where she continued her participation in the T.M. program in a variety of ways.
She joined the International Toastmaster Club in Fairfield and took an interest in its two sisters clubs at the Iowa state prison in Fort Madison. Betty coordinated and participated in both clubs for almost 10 years. She was formally honored by the State of Iowa for her volunteer work there.
In 1990 Betty became involved with the Art of Living, another meditation-oriented program. She worked there for ten years as an archive's analyst.
Betty loved God, wisdom, reading, friends and cherries.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda.
Left to share her story are her husband, Fred; two sisters, Linda and Esther; and two brothers, Ray and Ronnie.
A service for her will be held at the First Lutheran Church at 201 West Briggs on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 10 a.m.
