Death Takes G. GAINES

Gladys C. GAINES, 79, died at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been admitted on Sunday.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Gladys C. GAINES was born January 26, 1897 in Fairfield, the daughter of Sam and Catherine FLINSPACH LEWIS and was reared and educated in the Fairfield schools. In 1917 she was married to Floyd L. GAINES who passed away March 1, 1957. They owned and operatd the Gaines Cafe in Fairfield for many years.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church and she made her home at 300 East Fillmore.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Bettye SMITH of Fairfield, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

... --Here to attend the funeral services for their grandmother, Gladys GAINES on Saturday morning were the children of Mrs. Bettye SMITH, Tim at home, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth V. CONNOR of Libertyville, Mr. and Mrs. Rick BARNES, Denise and Kevin of Muscatine, Mr. and Mrs. Terry SMITH of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Tom SMITH and Jeff and Amy of Galipolis, Ohio. Also attending was Mrs. GAINES's niece and her daughter, Margaret TOWERS and Carol BRIGGS of Des Moines. Mrs. GAINES died Wednesday night, July 21 at the Jefferson County Hospital.

TO ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE ESTATE OF GLADYS C. GAINES, DECEASED:

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT ON THE 27TH DAY OF JULY, 1976, THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF GLADYS C. GAINES, DECEASED BEARING DATE OF THE 16 DAY OF JULY, 1975, WAS ADMITTED TO PROBATE IN THE ABOVE NAMED COURT AND THAT BETTYE K. SMITH WAS APPOINTED EXECUTOR OF SAID ESTATE.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT ANY ACTION TO SET ASIDE SAID WILL MUST BE BROUGHT IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF SAID COUNTY WITHIN ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THE SECOND PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE, OR THEREAFTER BE FOREVER BARRED.
