The Rev. David M. FUNK, 78, retired Lutheran minister, died Saturday afternoon at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City from burns suffered at his home on July 4.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the first Lutheran Church with Dr. Raynold Lingwall, Des Moines, president of the Iowa Lutheran Synod, officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the local American Legion Post. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.
The Rev. FUNK is the fourth Jefferson County resident to suffer fatal burns this year. He was injured July 4 when his clothing caught fire while he was burning papers in a trash burner in the yard of his home at 309 E. Adams.
The Rev. FUNK was born April 5, 1892 in Cambria County, Pa., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton FUNK. He was married July 27, 1924 to Hazel C. THAYER.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Donald MILHOLIN, Fairfield; one son, David B. FUNK, Davenport; and five grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters also survive.
A Lutheran minister for 55 years, the Rev. FUNK was a graduate of Gettysburg College and Seminary. He served pastorates at Oakland, Md.; Morgantown, W. Va,; Newport, Ky.; Muscatine and Manly, Iowa; and Sedalia, Mo., before his retirement in 1958.
After moving to Fairfield in 1958, he also served as assistant pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and later as pastor of the Lutheran Church in Queen City, Mo.
He was a former oficer of the Lutheran Synod of West Virginia and the Lutheran Synod of Kentucky-Tennessee. He was chaplain of the local American Legion Post and a member of the Fairfield Lions Club. He was also a veteran of World War I.

In The Matter Of The Estate Of David M. FUNK, Deceased.
To All Persons Interested In The Estate of David M. FUNK Deceased:
You are hereby notified that on the 30th day of July, 1970, the last will and testament of David M. FUNK deceased bearing date of the 7th day of May, 1960, was admitted to probate in the above named court and that Hazel T. FUNK was appointed executor of said estate.
Notice is further given that any action to set aside said will must be brought in the district court of said county within one year from the date of the second publication of this notice, or thereafter be forever barred.
Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned, and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the clerk of the above named district court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.
