Fred C. FULTON

SELMA -- Fred C. FULTON, 87, of rural Selma, died at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 1994, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial wil be in Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield. Open visitation begins at noon Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8 that night. Memorials to Fairfield Public Library or Mount Zion Community Church may be left at the funeral home.

FULTON was born Oct. 3, 1906, in Fairfield, the son of Pearl and Edith SNOOK FULTON. He graduated from Selma High School and spent his adult life farming near Selma. On Feb. 10, 1944, he married Rosa McCOY in Ottumwa. He was a member of Mount Zion Community Church, a former member of Van Buren Lodge 350 IOOF at Selma and the Southeast Iowa Archaeological Society. He was well known in the area as a collector of Indian artifacts and an authority on Indian lore.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Loyal of Selma; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Harry, Wayne, Arthur, and five sisters, Grace ROHER (sic - ROHRER), Beth CAMPBELL, Marian DAGGETT, Millie EDWARDS and Florence PARSONS.
