REPORT O. F. FRYER IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Word was received this morning from the Mercy hospital at Iowa City stating that O. F. FRYER, well known Fairfield resident, is in a critical condition. FRYER fractured his hip in a fall several days ago and has been a patient at the Iowa City hospital since.

FRYER BURIED IN EVERGREEN

Last rites were held today for O. F. FRYER, 79, well known Fairfield resident and retired banker. The services were held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. in charge of Dr. L. L. Weis. burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

The retired banker passed away at 10:25 a.m. Saturday at the Mercy hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA) where he had been a patient since April 15. He was taken to the hospital after he fractured a hip in a fall.

FRYER started his banking career in Packwood at the Farmers Savings bank and was cashier of the bank when he resigned to become associated with the Iowa State Savings bank in 1905.

He later became president of the Iowa State Savings bank and also of the Iowa Loan and Trust company, a position he held for many years.

Upon his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. FRYER returned to Packwood where they made their home until Mrs. FRYER's death on November 9, 1947. Shortly after FRYER returned to Fairfield where he made his home until his death.

He was born in Jefferson county on August 17, 1870, the son of the late Elias and Mary Jane EDWARDS FRYER. He was united in marriage to Lulu ROTH on September 21, 1894.

FRYER was an active member of the Methodist church in Fairfield, and was a member of the finance committee when the present church was constructed.

He is survived by one son, L. M. FRYER, Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Doris HYND, Benton Harbor, Michigan; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and a brother, W. E. FRYER, Long Beach, Calif.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Executor of the estate of O. F. FRYER deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court. Dated this 18th day of May, A. D. 1950.
