John Edward FRITTS

John Edward FRITTS, 84, 500 W. Kirkwood Ave., died at 9:42 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1988, at Jefferson County Hospital.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or Jefferson County Hospital.

Mr. FRITTS was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Moline, Ill., the son of Edward William and Ruth METZ FRITTS. He married Ezra E. HUNT July 6, 1944, at his parents home in Fairfield.

He owned and operated Fritts Service Station from 1945-1948, then worked for his father from 1948-1956 when he took over ownership of Fritts Oil Company and Auto Parts. He retired in 1978. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton Lodge 2271 (sic - 15); VFW Post 2271; American Legion Post 47; and Disabled American Veterans. He served on the Fairfield City Council for three years and on the Jefferson County Hospital board for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sandra Jo YARNELL, Birmingham, Barbara Ann McCLELLAN, Sycamore, Ill., Martha Kay DAVIS, Kula, hawaii, Ramona Dawn STITES, Cottonwood, Ariz.; one son, John Edward FRITTS Jr., Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Luella WOOLSEY; and one grandson.
