HARRY E. FRESHWATER
Harry E. FRESHWATER, youngest of the five children of William and Margaret FRESHWATER was born August 19, 1895 (sic - 1894) at Fairfield, Iowa. He passed away at the Jefferson county hospital Monday evening, July 28, 1930, when almost 36 years of age. All of his life has been spent in Jefferson county excepting the time that he was serving his country in the U. S. army.
He was married December 8, 1920 to Laura WIREMAN and has lived happily in this union since.
At the call of his country he enlisted in the army and saw service first in the Mexican border campaign. A short time after being mustered out from this campaign he was called to the colors and served all through the World War in the 133rd infantry. He was abroad for 1½ years. He was honorably discharged in May of 1919.
He is survived by his sorrowing widow, his father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Cathryn COX of Glendale, Calif., one brother Arch of Cedar Rapids. These with a number of other relatives and friends will mourn his passing. A brother, Thomas and a sister, Mrs. Jenny SULLIVAN preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home last Wednesday, conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson, pastor of the Christian church. Members of the American Legion acted as pall bearers and stood at attention at the grave side as a parting volley was fired and taps (sic - Taps) sounded.
