MRS. J. N. FRESHWATER DIED THIS MORNING

Mrs. J. Newton FRESHWATER died this morning at seven o'clock at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Martin LEWIS in Ottumwa, after a brief illness of six months with tuberculosis (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

The remains will be brought to her home at 808 West Grimes street this afternoon where the funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. The remains will be interred in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. FRESHWATER was born in Ottumwa on November 12th, 1885 (sic - 1884), being at the time of her death 32 years, 8 months and 20 days old. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin LEWIS of Ottumwa, who are left to mourn her death. She had always made her home in Ottumwa until her marriage to J. Newton FRESHWATER on April 13th, 1913, and since that time has resided in Fairfield. Besides her husband she is survived by a stepson, Harvey Leroy, and a son and daughter, Arthur Lewis, aged 3 years, and Mabel May aged 19 months(.) She also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Esther JOHNSON, Mrs. Steve BEAN, Arlo LEWIS and Walter LEWIS, all of Ottumwa, and Arthur LEWIS of the Philippine Islands.

She was a member of the Lutheran church and during her life lived in accordance with its teachings. Many friends here will extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family at this time in the death of a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. J. Newton FRESHWATER died Thursday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin LEWIS in Ottumwa after six months' illness with tuberculosis.

Mrs. FRESHWATER was born in Ottumwa on Nov. 12, 1885 (sic), where she lived until her marriage to J. N. FRESHWATER on Aprill (sic) 13, 1913, since then she has lived in Fairfield. She is survived by her husband, a son, Arthur Lewis, aged 3 years and one daughter, Mabel 19 months old, and a stepson, Harvey Leroy. She is also survived by her parents, two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Esther JOHNSON, Mrs. Steve BEAN, Arlo and Walter LEWIS of Ottumwa, and Arthur, of the Philippine Islands.

The body was brought to the home at 808 West Grimes street where funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, with interment in Evergreen cemetery.
