E. Paul FRANKLIN

E. Paul FRANKLIN, 73, of Indianola, formerly of Fairfield, died 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan, 5, 1997, at his home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to the Fairfield Little League and the First Christian Church.

FRANKLIN was born June 2, 1923, in rural Libertyville, the son of William and Ruth DAVISSON FRANKLIN. He married Nadine BARNETT Aug. 15, 1945, in Fairfield. He graduated from Birmingham High School in 1940 and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial science from Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville. He was the industrial arts teacher at Fairfield High School for 32 years before retiring. He had lived in Indianola five years.

He was past president of the Iowa Industrial Arts Education Association, a member of First Christian Church and VFW, and a veteran of the U. S. Army in World War II. He was on the Fairfield City Council representing the 1st Ward for more than 10 years. He enjoyed coaching and working with Little League baseball.

Surviving are his wife of Indianola; two sons, Jon of Morrissville, Pa., and Craig of Des Moines; a daughter, Gernet of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren; four brothers, Guy of Fairfield, Gerald of Camino, Calf., Don of Winfield, and Merel of Mesa, Ariz.; and six sisters, Maxine, Leola, Thelma, Betty, Darlene and Nancy all of the Stockton, Calif. area.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth, and two brothers, Warner and Lonnie.
