Death Takes Les FORBES

Lester Vern FORBES, 62, longtime resident of Fairfield, died suddenly at 12:15 a.m. today. He was stricken with a heart attack at his home, 308 E. Burlington, and was taken by ambulance to the Jefferson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been in failing health the past three years.

The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home where services are pending. They have been tentatively set for Saturday morning. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

FORBES had been engaged in the auto parts business in Fairfield for 30 years and was presently associated with Arnolds Motor Supply.

Lester FORBES was born Aug. 7, 1919, at Packwood. He was the son of Arthur O. and Eva DOUGLAS FORBES. He was reared and educated in the Pleasant Plain Community and he was a graduate of Parsons College. He served in the African and European Theaters of War during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He was married March 2, 1946, to Louise PECK in Fairfield. She survives.

Other survivors include eight children: Angela BUSSEY, Fairfield; Eileen MENDENHALL, Wichita, Kansas; Steven, Muscatine; Richard, Grand Prairie, Texas; Mary Ellen and Douglas, both of Davenport; Paul, Bettendorf; and John, Mount Pleasant.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren, his mother, Eva FORBES and a sister, Joyce ORR, both of Fairfield; and a brother, Roy FORBES, Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

CARD OF THANKS

We cannot express our thanks personally to all who assisted at the time of Lester's death.

We were so grateful for the multitude of floral offerings, food, memorials, prayers, and visits. The tributes were overwhelming and truly appreciated. We shall surely miss him, but you have all helped to make it easier for us.
