M. C. FLINSPACH
Martin C. FLINSPACH was born June 16, 1861 in Jefferson County, Iowa and died March 21, 1924, age 62 years, 9 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Iowa DALLNER, Mar. 26, 1890.
There were born to them two children, one son, Ray F., and one daughter, Mrs. Edith J. LARSON.
Thirty-one years of their family life was spent on the farm, where he was a hard working, enterprising and successful farmer. He was held in high esteem by all his neighbors and friends. On March 3, 1921 they retired from the active life of the farm, and moved to Fairfield. He was converted when a lad of 15, and identified himself with his wife with the Prairie Chapel M. E. church, to which he was faithful to te (sic) end.
Brother FLINSPACH was a man of outstanding business ability and of strictest integrity of character.
His worth and ability were recognized by citizens of the county, who honored him with the place on the board of supervisors which office he held at the time of his death. About 9 years ago he was stricken with typhoid fever from the effects of which he never fully recovered. A year ago heart disease developed which caused his death. He fully realized the seriousness of his condition and was conscious to the last, leaving his testimony with his loved ones as to his readiness and willingness to depart, only regretting that he must leave them.
He selected his pall bearers from his old school mates.
Besides his immediate family he is survived by five brothers: Fred L., G. A., Edward C., Frank T., Robert C., all residents of this county, and five sisters: Mrs. John KANN of Fairfield, Mrs. T. THOMPSON of Brighton, Mrs. John DIERS of Fairfield, Mrs. Alex GORDON of Bennington, Nebr., Mrs. P. L. GORDON of Spokane, Wash.
The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, which was filled with old neighbors and friends. Rev. G. W. Pool assisted by Dr. C. L. Tenant, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery.
