Died in New Mexico.

Mrs. Volumnia FAWCETT, who lived for many years on a farm about five miles east of this city, died at Clayton, N.M., the 8th inst. The remains were brought to this city for interment by two of her children, Edgar FAWCETT of Denver, Col., and Mrs. Mary E. ROBINSON of Attica, Kas. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. J. E. Corley, the pastor. Mrs. FAWCETT's maiden name was PATTERSON, and she was born February 16th, 1835, at Pittsburgh. Penn. She was married to Levi FAWCETT in April, 1852, and immediately came to Iowa. Five children survive her--Ellsworth of Clayton, N.M., Walter, Edgar and Charles of Denver, Col., and Mrs. ROBINSON. The family left this county several years ago, and for two years past the mother has resided at Clayton. Mrs. FAWCETT had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since her girlhood. She was an earnest, consistent christian woman, a loving mother, a kind neighbor, and was beloved by all who knew her.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, on Lot Old.P.218. On the same lot is a cenotaph for her husband Levi, who died of Yellow Fever while in Honduras in 1893 and was buried at sea.
