SHERRI LEA ADKINS

Sherri Lea ADKINS, 60, of Ottumwa, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center (note: in Wapello Co., IA). Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Family Crisis Center, P.O. Box 446, Ottumwa, IA 52501.

Sherri was born March 17, 1961, in Fairfield, to Clyde and Grace (DENNISON) SHONDEL. She married Thomas ADKINS on Nov. 24, 1981. He passed away Sept. 14, 1985.

Sherri lived in Fairfield for 41 years until she relocated to Ottumwa, where she has lived for the last 20 years. For the last five years, she has worked at Walmart in security and other various departments. Sherri loved all her different jobs she had at Walmart.

Sherri never knew a stranger and was a very giving person. She enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and friends. One of Sherri's favorite sayings was "God Don't Like Ugly." She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Sherri also collected dolls.

She will be missed by her children, Christopher (Traci) ADKINS of Libertyville, Kaylea ADKINS and Trevor MILLER, both of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Madyson, Chloe, Olivia, Logan, Landen, Elexus, Brooklyn and Tucker, life partner, O.C. Davis; her brothers, Michael, Albert, Doug and Larry SHONDEL, all of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Sherri was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Grace; husband, Thomas ADKINS; sisters, Anna SHONDEL, Ella GREINER, Mabel SHONDEL, Debra HEDQUIST, Charlotte DONAHUE and Tina SCOTT; and brothers, Robert SHONDEL, Clyde SHONDEL Jr., Herbert SHONDEL and Fred SHONDEL.
