Samuel R. FARMER, 89, native of Jefferson County, died at 7:55 a.m., today at the Jefferson County Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartuff (sic -Bartruff) officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Samuel R. FARMER was born April 11, 1891, in Jefferson County, the son of James and Elizabeth RODGERS FARMER.
He was a farmer until his retirement in 1968 at which time he and his wife moved to Fairfield. The family home is at 1206 E. Burlington.
He was married March 28, 1918, to Mertie B. SEARS in Fairfield who survives. He was a member of the first United Methodist Church.
In addition to his widow FARMER is survived by two daughters, May JOHNSON, Osage, and Mary FAY, Rock Island, Ill.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Ida GREEN, Sheridan, Wyo.; Ina FARMER and Elizabeth FARMER, both of Fairfield; and one brother, Hardin FARMER, Lake Worth, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
